It can malso be used as a tool to discuss roadblocks to the success of the company. Sharing of ideas (brainstorming) can assist company leaders in identifying shortcomings while setting realistic objectives that are essential to successful planning.

​Keeping an open mind, allowing people to present their thoughts without interruptions and listening intently to what is presented are the keys to the proper sharing of ideas. "No such thing as a stupid idea" when it comes to sharing of ideas. Setting some guidelines upfront must be discussed and agreed up on advance in order that all participants are in agreement and stay focused.

Recording (in writing) of each idea and how it was left is critical to ensure that all ideas are properly followed through upon.
